Halibut mainly originates from the northern Yellow Sea and Bohai Bay, such as Zhuanghe in Liaoning, Qinhuangdao in Hebei, Penglai and Shishan in Shandong, with Qinhuangdao's halibut being of better quality.April to June is the peak season for producing sole fish.Its body is long and flat-sided, generally about 20 centimeters long, weighing around 200 grams. It has large and prominent eyes located on the right side of its head; the upper eye position is high, at the midline of the head back margin.Both sides of the mouth are slightly unequal in length, with sharp fine teeth on both jaws. The preopercle edge is free, the lateral line is complete, and there is no bend above the pectoral fin; the side with an eye has weak ctenoid scales, while the body color ranges from yellowish-brown to dark brown without spots.The side without an eye is white, covered with round scales. The scales on the head and between the two eyes are fine and dense.It has a pair of small pectoral fins.Abdominal fins extend from behind the pectoral fin to near the front end of the tail base.The caudal fin is double lobed, with a long caudal peduncle.
