Clam refers to kai shell, belonging to the bivalve class and venus family.The shell is large and thick, with equal left and right valves presenting an oblique oval shape and being highly inflated.The knob is prominently swollen, with wide and smooth radiating ribs without obvious nodules, approximately 42-48 in number, with the most common being 43.Shell surface is white, covered with a small amount of brown hair;the inner shell surface is white, with straight hinge lines and about 70 hinge teeth.Mainly distributed along the coasts of China, Japan, and Korea, living in soft mud or sandy bottoms at depths of 20 to 35 meters.The foot thread is strong and tenacious, often attaching to stones or dead shells.After burrowing, only the rear part remains exposed above the seabed.No siphons; after burying, it only has a small part protruding from the seabed.Kai shell is a cold-water bivalve with a temperature range of 5 to 15℃, having fresh and delicious meat rich in nutrition, suitable for fresh consumption.
