Summer has not arrived, but due to consuming cold drinks and foods too early, young children frequently suffer from stomach ailments.Recently, more and more children are undergoing gastroscopy at hospitals, among whom many are diagnosed with gastritis or gastroduodenitis by doctors.

Many kids, due to their fondness for eating, consume excessive amounts of beverages and raw cold fruits in the early spring when it is slightly warmer, coupled with intense academic pressure leading to overexertion, which stimulates stomach function. Over time, this leads to loss of appetite, stomach pain, gastritis, etc.Due to the initial symptoms being not obvious, they are often overlooked by parents.

Children in their growth and development stage have underdeveloped organ functions. Without restraint on cold food consumption, it can lead to accumulation, eventually resulting in loss of appetite, indigestion, and various stomach diseases. If not treated promptly or incorrectly, this may affect the child's growth and development.

Dr. Yongqi Dong from the Pediatric Department at the Municipal Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital told us that when children experience occasional postprandial abdominal pain that lasts for a long time, persistent bloating, loss of appetite, pale complexion, morning bad breath, or constipation, parents should be vigilant.

Pay attention to reasonable feeding practices in daily life, reducing intake of beverages and cold drinks that hinder digestion;Ensure proper rest and avoid overloading children with excessive academic pressure, paying attention to the health and well-being of children; At the first sign of stomach discomfort or poor appetite, seek treatment early to nip problems in the bud.If a child does indeed have gastritis or gastroduodenitis, there is no need for panic as both traditional Chinese and Western medicines can be effective treatments. In particular, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) uses syndrome differentiation and treatment methods such as promoting digestion and strengthening the spleen, regulating qi to harmonize the stomach, and clearing damp-heat. These approaches not only treat symptoms but also enhance digestive absorption functions.
