Sometimes, when tiny insects, sand, or other irritants enter our eyes, what should we do?What should we pay attention to in such situations?Let's learn about it!
We often encounter insects flying into our eyes or eyelashes and sand entering them, causing discomfort. Depending on the substance that enters, we need to take different actions without harming our eyes.

How to handle foreign objects in the eye
Sand and coal dust particles entering the eye
After sand or coal dust enters the eye, it triggers an emergency response, stimulating tear production. Gently pinch your eyelid and shake it slowly; tears may wash out the foreign object. If washing with tears is ineffective, ask someone to gently pull back the upper eyelid using their index finger and thumb to find the foreign object. Use a wet cotton swab to carefully remove it, ensuring that hands are clean.
Strongly irritating substances like lime or chemical liquids
Do not rub your eyes; instead, flush with clean water for more than 20 minutes, then seek medical attention immediately.
Hair strands or eyelashes entering the eye
Use a clean basin of water, submerging your head so that the water covers your eyes. Blink rapidly or gently pull back your eyelids to dislodge the foreign object; if sand or dust remains after the first method fails, use this technique.
Cleaners or detergents entering the eye
Immediately flush with large amounts of clean water for at least 20 minutes until relief is felt. For strong acids or bases, continue washing and seek immediate medical attention.

Precautions when dealing with foreign objects in the eye
1. Do not rub your eyes. When there are foreign objects in your eyes, do not rub them. Rubbing can cause harm to your eyes.
2. Wash your hands with soap before checking, to avoid introducing dirt that could cause infection.
3. Use a flashlight to examine your eyes more clearly.Have the patient sit and tilt their head back so light can fully reach the eye.
4. If a foreign object is embedded in the eyeball, cover it with sterilized gauze and secure with a bandage; seek medical attention immediately without attempting to remove or use eyedrops.
5. For irritating substances, clean the area if necessary or consult a doctor promptly.or
How to handle bugs flying into a child's eye
1. When a fly enters your child's eye, do not let them touch or rub their eyes; doing so can cause damage from the dirty contents of the bug.

2. Take your child to run water over their face at the sink, using cool water to wash their eyes; children may be unaccustomed to this, so allow them to manage it themselves.
3. Alternatively, prepare a bowl of clean water and use a spoon to open the eyelid with one hand while pouring water into the eye with the other.
4. Have the child try moving their eyes; tears may naturally flush out the insect.
5. If you have eye drops, use soothing ones instead of those for treating eye diseases and apply them to your child's eyes.
6. Use a clean towel corner with water to gently pull back the eyelid and remove the bug if seen, acting lightly so as not to frighten the child.
7. Have the child close their eyes without moving.Slowly move your eye to shift the insect towards the corner of the eye; use a finger to wipe it out when it is there.
