OsmanthusM Purple YamRice Porridge
Introduction:
Recently, I saw a post on Weibo featuring pictures of purple yams. I was curious because I had never seen them in the supermarket.PotatoYamTaroI spent some time studying the various tubers. None of them were purple. Finally, I found "Purple Yam" written on one of the labels. It wasn't very dark or purple, so it was quite unremarkable. That's why I had missed it before.
Ingredients:
M Purple Yam,Rice, a few pieces of rock sugar, dried osmanthus flowers
Steps:
1. Simply cut the peeled purple yam into chunks about the size of your thumb joint. Add enough water for cooking porridge and bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, add washed rice, stir to prevent sticking, and sprinkle in a few pieces of rock sugar. Do not stir further.
2. When it comes to a boil again, switch to low-medium heat. Hold the lid slightly open with a chopstick (refer to my "Neina at Home" series for detailed instructions).
3. After about 30 minutes,M Purple Yam Porridgeis ready. Adding rock sugar to the water rather than near the end is Mr. Li's secret. It prevents the porridge from becoming too watery.
4. Top with dried osmanthus flowers, and you've never tasted such a fragrant and sweet porridge!
