Polygonatum sibiricum is a perennial herb from the genus Sagittaria.It is produced in southern provinces of China south of the Yangtze River Basin.The name appears in The Classic of the Different Names.According to Su Song of Tang Dynasty:It grows in marshy areas, and can also spread in shady places in valleys. The leaves resemble those of buckwheat but are fatter, with purple-brown stems. People in Jiangzuo prefer to eat it raw, while those in Guanzhong call it zuaicai. Due to its fishy smell, it is commonly known as fish-herb grass.
