: Lotus Seeds for Sale; Lotus seeds are the seeds of Nelumbo nucifera, a water-loving plant in the Nelumbonaceae family.They are also known as lotus nuts, lotus rice, and lotus meat.Nelumbo nucifera is also called hé hóngměi or water orchid.This plant can be found throughout most of China, with the best being from Guangchang in Jiangxi and Jianning in Fujian.In 1985, the Wuhan Botanical Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences conducted a nutritional component comparison test on four types of lotus seeds, and the Chuansanlotus from Xiangtan was superior in all 17 major indicators including amino acids and proteins.It is known as "China's Best Lotus"..When the fruits mature in autumn or winter, the lotus pods are harvested, and the fruits are removed;or the fruits that have fallen into the water and sunk to the bottom can be collected, the fruit shells removed, and either used fresh or dried, or the outer skin and heart (the green embryo) of the lotus seeds removed for special use as lotus meat.
